The smell of the tatami, reminds you of your great grandmother who you visited during a trip to Japan, as she lay in bed due to old age. The windows to the yard were entirely open, allowing a full view of the yard. If you stood on the ledge, you could see the lotus pond surrounded by the tsubaki bushes.
The sun was so hot and the mosquitoes were so many that you didn’t want to go outside, but your uncle suggested you to. Your mother dressed you in a cotton dress and sandals that were not allowed to be dirtied.
You stood by the pond. The yard felt dreary. The adults tried to tell you how pretty it was.
The grass was burnt to a green yellow and there were no trees to climb.
For every age we have a tree ring that counts our wisdom. These rings accumulate and are coloured by culture. When we move to a new country it becomes coloured by that country as well. We keep on adding more and more rings of different colours and tastes.
You can never really go back and change the colour of the ring. Once it’s coloured it stays there forever but you can go back and access this in memory. When you get to the middle ages of your life, there is a tendency to go back and trace the formation of the rings. To acknowledge each one and how they contributed to the mandala of your life. In your younger years, you spent them creating beautiful coloured rings in earnest and angst. In your later years you will start to develop the wisdom from those rings and discover the thread that has carved you throughout all those years. We go back to each ring and remember parts of our history and recall our power. The power hidden in those rings. We try to make our rings look like other people but we can only be what our rings made us. So we have to access that as our power. Eventually our rings tell us who we were really meant to be.
The core of the ring is empty. The ring itself has no meaning. Your life has meaning in the patterns that create your tree. You are the pattern. You were born to create your own pattern and to live it. The more you understand your unique pattern the more powerfully you can go out into the world and create it purposely, knowingly, deliberately, intentionally, because you long to be You. You long to see yourself expressed in the world and the only person holding yourself back is you. Your purpose is meant to be a beautiful tree. Only you have difficulty seeing that beauty in yourself. Through all your trials and successes, you were outlining a certain pattern that needs to be put out into the world. We can call that your blueprint, your soul purpose, or your seed pattern but it is all the same. There is a certain vibe that only you can provide to the world and if you become loyal to it, you life will unfold bringing you happiness in ways you could never have imagined.
